When I ask my students which area of the body they want to focus on, the answer is almost always “hips“. Here’s a fun, all level hip opener class for you to try. It’s an efficient and practical practice to open your hips. The class will also help release back pain and increase mobility. Additionally, symptoms of sciatica may be reduced too.

 

Enjoy the process of becoming flexible! 

 

Releasing tension from the hips can be difficult due to all of the strong muscles in that area of the body. These muscles are responsible for keeping you upright and balanced while you stand and walk. It tends to also be an area in which many people accumulate emotional tensions and stresses. Releasing tension and taking some time to open your hips can also help with previously unresolved emotional issues. 

Your hips are such a valuable part of your body. They are often your center of gravity when practicing arm balances or inversions. The more open and flexible your hips are, the more quickly you can adjust within the moment during balancing poses. As a result, the work you carry out on your hips reflects throughout your entire body and in almost all asanas.
