The Doron Yoga & Zen Center (DYZC) is a spiritual, no-nonsense training and retreat center. Self-responsibility, honesty, integrity, transparency and care for each other are foundational values. We study, practice and integrate yoga and Zen infused with regenerative living, mindfulness action, and lots of fun. Work Exchange Opportunity Lake Atitlan, Guatemala

Our work/study program is an opportunity to dive deep into the practice of yoga. If you want to follow yogic principles like karma yoga (the discipline of selfless action as a way to perfection) and live a yogi lifestyle in a beautiful, vibrant retreat center, this program is for you. The foundation of our program is harmonious living, studying, and contributing your unique skills to further our mission. Our hope is that you spread these teachings and principles to other beings. 

 The program includes clean, shared accommodation, three daily nourishing vegetarian meals, daily yoga, pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and various ongoing activities and events such as temazcal (sauna), cacao ceremonies, and community fire circles.  We offer a peaceful, comfortable lifestyle with hot showers and wifi for a modest monthly fee.

If you join our team, you’ll be surrounded by positive, supportive, and motivated individuals practicing yoga, mindfulness, wellness, and happiness. 

 We require a minimum 1-month commitment and 27 hours weekly work hours.

What we are seeking

Doron Yoga & Zen is always looking for highly-qualified, capable individuals to join our team. Self-responsibility, honesty, integrity, transparency and care for each other are foundational values, and this is deeply imbedded into our work-culture here. Our ideal team members are driven, passionate, and committed to going above and beyond to help our community grow and flourish.

As a small business, each of our team-members are project managers in their own right. Whether they are tackling financial growth goals, or marketing initiatives, we are looking for self-starters who can contribute their special skills to our amazing community.

Computer literacy and hospitality/retreat experience are required. English is a requirement, but Spanish or other language skills are a plus. An interest in Yoga, green living, and healthy lifestyle are preferred. No Yoga teaching experience required.

A Note for Wellness Professionals
Please note that while we can provide you with space to offer wellness treatments or classes, we are not looking to specifically hire wellness providers or yoga teachers at this time. Our ideal team members are business professionals, with experience in the hospitality industry. That being said, there will be some opportunity to teach yoga if this is a qualification you possess.

  • Work experience in operations, finance, marketing and/or sales activities, preferably in a hotel/hospitality setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent in English, and Spanish.
  • A positive attitude, integrity, maturity and excellent communication skills – via digital as well as in person – Must love people!
  • Must have the attitude of ‘Got it – Consider it done’, and really follow through till project is complete, and updated on project list.
  • Strong sense of ownership and urgency, organizational and time management skills.
  • A spirit of service, the ability to step up and perform whatever task is necessary for the good of the whole.
  • Very good administrative and IT skills with a passion for driving sales
  • Industry experience and knowledge preferred (hospitality, yoga teacher etc.)
  • Graphic design (basic desired, advanced preferred)
  • WordPress and MailChimp proficiency, preferred 
  • Proactive; sees what’s needed and promptly takes action.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and all other relevant computer programs 
  • Highly organized, able to multitask and prioritize and work under pressure
  • Humility, aspiration, maturity, enthusiasm, openness, integrity, and responsiveness.
  • Actively assisting with on-site customer service and reception 
  • Responsible of the logistics of the programs/events (transportation arrangements, check-ins, checkouts, tours booking etc.)
  • Managing our Buddha Shop
  • Actively supporting the ground operations (opening and closing Buddha Café, manage work study participants, communicate with kitchen and cleaning staff about daily needs etc
  • Supporting the finance operations (inventories, reports etc.)
  • Draft and prepare DYZC monthly blog posts and newsletters
  • Creating website content, updates and website maintenance
  • Supporting the communication via social media, external sites (e.g. bookyogaretreats.com, Airbnb.com)
  • Tracking and updating the booking system and calendar.
  • Managing and updating our profiles on the 3rd party booking websites
  • Conducting reports related to marketing ROI
  • Supporting DYZC marketing efforts
  • Be knowledgeable about our company products, programs and pricing
