Dear Doron Yoga Center Friend,
Thanks for your interest in a work-study program at Doron Yoga Center (DYC). We are excited about the possibility of working together. Before we finalize any arrangements, there are a few points that we would like to ensure you are in agreement with first.
Here at the DYC, we follow the Zen tradition/practice. Which means;
- Work mindfully and with awareness
- You are mindful and respectful of the center, the land and the people around you
- Chatter/talk are minimal during working hours
- Taking the initiative to keep the DYZC clean and well cared for
What you get
- 3 healthy meals on working days
- You get a bed in a shared room with shared bathroom. If available we will offer a private room with shared bathroom. Accommodations are under the yoga hall, so you are close to open the yoga hall (shala), have a great space in front of you with chairs, hammocks and views. Be mindful of guests using space as well, and keeping the area quiet.
- Wifi available on-site
- 6 days per week yoga, meditation and pranayama (breathing exercises) sessions. Many of these sessions are for 90 – 110min or even longer during teacher training.
- Fire nights, dharma talks and Zen dance when available
- Temazcal ceremony when space allows (most of the time)
- Cacao ceremony when available
- We encourage longer-term work-study participants to stay for a yoga teacher training. Teachers will help you prepare for it during your work-study period. This has proven to help students go through the training with much more confidence and ease.
Food & Kitchen
- Meals at the DYZC are vegetarian, nutrient-rich and balanced*
- Smoothies, kombucha, coffee and some desserts are available for purchase
- No cooking facilities are available
- Food options are limited in Tzunana; some health food items are available in neighboring towns, consider what you need before arrival.
- We require that work-study participants help prepare the Buddha Cafe before and after all meals
- Alcohol is available for purchase but be mindful with consuming it. Illegal substances are not permitted
*Please let us know of any dietary restrictions and/or allergies. If you have any specific dietary needs that may not be available, please plan and/or bring accordingly.
Working Agreements
- The agreement entails working 5 hours per day, 6 days a week with 1 day off. However, if the workload permits and the circumstances allow a change the arrangement may be changed to 6 hours per day, 5 days a week, then 2 days off will be granted. Your commitment to working with intention of service and giving your best is acknowledged and appreciated.
- Participants pay a contribution of $15 per day at sign up. This is non refundable.
- Minimum one month commitment. If participant proves to be a great fit for longer stay, we will add work hours and lower or remove fee. This is to be discussed after your third week.
- $400 off of the Teacher Training program if you sign up after you complete a minimum of a month length Work & Study program
If this still sounds like a good environmental fit for you, we ask that you sign the disclaimer and liability form below. Upon submission, we will send you a welcome pack with more info on how to arrive here and logistics.
