Air purifiers that run on water and earth – The green solution!
Houseplants – Natural Air Filters
My golden rule for healthy eating is “Dark Leafy Greens” But it does not end there. What we breathe is just as important to our health. Today’s homes have many pollutants that come from the materials used to build the house as well as furniture and such. Even the glue that is holding your carpet together or the paint on the walls, most likely is letting off harmful vapors that you breathe moment after moment. There is an easy and beautiful solution. Houseplants! Just having a houseplant has been proven to reduce colds and make more people feel optimistic. Plants are capable of filtering the air, as well as during the daytime, releasing oxygen. So how about some eye pleasing, calming natural air purifiers? Houseplants are the answer.
Magical houseplants
A study conducted by the University of Georgia took 28 plants and put them in jars with pollutants from building materials, cleaning products, fragrances, paints and tobacco. After six hours all the plants had improved the air quality. The top five were:
-
- Asparagus fern (Asparagus densiflorus)
- English Ivy (Hedera helix)
- Purple waffle plant (Hemigraphis alternata)
- Purple Heart Plant (Tradescantia pallid)
- Variegate wax plant (Hoya carnosa)
