Hands-on assist for Marichiasana C
Keep these things in mind while assisting
-
- The basic idea is to lengthen the spine and deepen the twist
- You can gently help them to go into the pose by pulling the left hand to reach it over the right knee. This gets the armpit deeper over the knee.
- Once they are in the pose, place your right hand at the shoulder blade. Lengthen and lift the spine up with the inhale.
- At the same time, on an exhale, the other hand is opening at the shoulder to deepen the twist.
- You can use your left forearm to deepen the bind if they have it.
- Use your own ujjayi breath and follow the breathing of your student while giving the adjustment.
- Stay with your student for at least three breaths.
- Repeat on the other side.
Benefits of the pose
-
- Stretches the shoulders
- Strenghtens and stretches the spine
- Stimulates abdominal organs
- Improves digestion
