Warrior one – Virabhadrasana
Warrior One
The warrior poses are powerful poses that embody strength, flexibility and a strong energy flow. Here is a detailed explanation of the Virabhadrasana 1 pose, from bottom to top.
-
- Keep the feet about five feet apart, one foot parallel to the long side of the mat, the other parallel to the short side of the mat.
- Front knee is bent at a 90 degrees angle. Press the back leg strongly towards the ground (to ease, lift the heel up).
- Rotate the hips forward so that your hips and chest are facing forward.
- Activate your bandhas, lengthen your spine up
- Lift the hands up without loosing the connection to your torso and shoulders, so that there is space for your neck.
- Keep your gaze at your hands.
