A DYZC Yoga Teacher Training Graduate Story

Update from a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training Graduate

We were excited to receive this inspiring update from a DYZC 200-hour yoga teacher training graduate. Emma is using her certification to spread a bit of yoga and happiness to her community! We’re so happy to be part of the joy she’s helping to create. This is the goal of our yoga teacher training –to empower, bring joy, and spread love. Below is Emma’s story as shared in a message to Doron. We’re so grateful she allowed us to share it with you, too! Find more information on our yoga teacher trainings.

Emma’s Story

I’ve finally started teaching. I didn’t realize how much self confidence and belief I lacked, until everyone started asking me to teach. I just couldn’t do it, I thought I wasn’t good enough. But I wanted to with all my heart. Because of that I had to look at myself like I had never before, and it wasn’t easy. It is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to face. It’s also the most beautiful thing I have ever experienced. The best journey I’ll ever go on. I wasn’t afraid to die, I was afraid to live.

I’m here now. Thank you so much for sharing such a beautiful gift with me. You are an amazing teacher and I am so grateful for all I continue to learn from our time together. I am teaching out at work, every second day. My students are even begging me for every day now, so I must be doing something right. They are all male (underground miners) who had never stepped foot on a yoga mat. There has been a lot of laughter. I started with 5 students and now have about 17 and it’s growing, I have only been teaching for 3 weeks! I have even got them meditating.

“The classes have created a space for us all to connect and share, I cannot believe the difference it has made to the entire culture”

Underground miners have by far the highest rate for suicide and depression, working away for weeks at a time. The shift work and isolation are hard. The classes have created a space for us all to connect and share. I cannot believe the difference it has made to the entire culture out there already. I feel so blessed that I’m able to share something I love, something that is teaching me how to love myself. It’s a way to share and generate more love in this world, by just being me. It’s amazing.”

Very inspiring story for all new teachers. It might feel very scary to start teaching, but it will be rewarding in so many ways. Just start doing it. You will learn the most By teaching more and more.
