Loving Your Spine and Hips in Delicious Pose
Delicious Pose
This is one of the Doron’s all time favorites! It’s rare that we start a class at DYZC without warming up with some deliciousness. Learn about this perfect warm-up for your hips and spine. It’s a variation of cat/cow pose, but more efficient for an all around safe warm up.
The perfect start to your practice
In a Doron Yoga class this pose is normally the first one to start the practice. It is a variation of cat/cow pose, but is more efficient for warming up the hips and spine, because we move in all directions. There is a big increase in the range of motion, but is still easy and accessible for many different levels of yoga!
-
- To begin, come to the hands and knees, with the shoulders directly over the hands, and the spine neutral, as you would for cat/cow.
- As you inhale, arch the back and bring the chest forward into cow pose.
- As you exhale, round the back like a cat.
- After a couple rounds of this, then begin your delicious rotations.
- Continue to arch and round your back, but alternate raising the hips and shoulders in a fluid, rotating way.
- Try to stay as fluid and loose as possible, opening up your hips and spine with each rotation.
- After several breaths, switch directions!
Benefits
-
- Increases flexibility
- Opens the spine and neck
- Strenghtening the arms and shoulders
- Massages and stimulates organs in the belly

What a smart pose! Thank you!
I have always enjoyed delicious pose but I have recently been inspired by it once again before bed. I tend to be tight in my shoulders and upper back right before bed from cleaning up around the house and holding a baby and this releases so much holding from the body. I sleep better and breathe deeper after doing the pose along with downward facing puppy and a few hip openers including low lunge and a supported pigeon. I very much appreciate the Doron Yoga sequences more than ever.
AWESOME LAUREN.It is the sweetest to hear that you still practice this. I was just in the bay Area, and we all remembered you teaching your amazing classes at peacebank.
