Raw Vegan Chocolate Bliss
The Way to Heaven
I cannot claim this recipe to be mine as I took it from a discussion board on the internet but it is AMAZING. Super easy to make and I have made it now at least half a dozen times and my friends with many different types of diet loved it. It’s called raw chocolate vegan bliss for a very good reason! Don’t be thrown off by the avocados. Nobody I made it for even knew avocados were in it.
Yield: 6-8 servings / Prep time: 10 minutes + 1 hour freezing time
Ingredients for crust
-
- 1 cup walnuts
-
- 1 cup dates (pitted) (The fresher the dates, the better the bottom turns out because the nuts and dates stick better to one another).
- ¼ cup raw cacao powder
Ingredients for Icing
-
- 2 avocados
- ½ cup maple syrup (grade B)
- ¼ cup raw cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp unrefined coconut oil
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- pinch of ground cinnamon
-
- salt to taste
Procedure
-
- Food process the crust ingredients until blended and chunky and somewhat cohesive.
- Press firmly into the bottom of a glass pie dish, so that the crust is a firm and solid base.
- Put all icing ingredients into a food processor (or another strong blender) and blend on high till smooth.
- Spread icing over crust and place in the freezer to set for 1 hour.
- Tips
-
- Make sure your avocados are soft and it helps to mash them with a potato masher before putting them in the food processor.
- When in season, top the chocolate bliss with strawberries once you are ready to serve, it gives a beautiful finish and adds a nice flavor.
