Four Yoga Retreats In The US

 Yoga Retreats in the States

Sometimes the need to get away overwhelms us. Yoga and meditation at home can be part of your beautiful, unique, everyday journey. But if you desire to go deeper and find solitude in nature. If you’re feeling that urge to get away – a yoga retreat center can help you find exactly what you seek. And you don’t necessarily have to go far to enjoy such a retreat.

The White Lotus Foundation

The White Lotus is a retreat center in Santa Barbara, California. It offers various specific retreats throughout the year. All the events include full use of the facilities. You can choose to soak in a luxurious hot tub, do bodywork, or simply rest among soothing surroundings. Nearby Santa Barbara is a famously pretty town, but here you’ll feel pleasantly secluded in nature. You will be able to relax and find communion with the Earth in the middle of a canyon. During your retreat, you can stay in an indoor loft or pitch a tent in the surrounding woods. You can even stay in one of the canvas, hard-floor yurts the White Lotus is known for. All in all this retreat offers a rare combination of sturdy and reliable facilities and full immersion in nature. An ideal combination for a yoga getaway.

Palo Santo Wellness Boutique

You can find the same serenity on the opposite coast from Santa Barbara. Specifically, Philadelphia’s Palo Santo offers a perfect atmosphere for quietness and spiritual healing. The center is near the river in Philadelphia, and welcomes any and all comers for peaceful inner journeys. Visitors find it to be an urban sanctuary where they can practice yoga, but also partake in some communal activity. For those who want to add some more passive relaxation to the trip, it’s only an hour from Atlantic City. This city is shedding its ghost town reputation, with new, Jersey-based sports betting helping to inject some life back into the entertainment scene. Along with this casino revival, resorts packed with spectacular spa options are back on the map. Not much beats a few spa treatments at the end of a yoga retreat!

Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health

This well-known yoga retreat center is another East Coast option, though not as close to a major city as Palo Santo. The lakeside sanctuary is similar to a Lake Atitlan escape in some respects, with its deep green landscape and tranquil vistas. While it was previously a Jesuit seminary, the three-and-a-half-acre location now revolves entirely around holistic health. The center provides a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, as well as instruction for those who prefer guided practice. You can craft your own yoga retreat, or book a scheduled event.

Shambhala Mountain Center

Perhaps the most unique selection on this list, the Shambhala Mountain Center was established in Colorado in the early ’70s. It’s the home of the Great Stupa of Dharmakaya (a 108-foot attraction symbolizing Buddhist traditions). The center offers a range of spiritual retreats, including some geared toward yoga and mediation. There are even opportunities there for families and couples.

These retreats are spread out across the U.S., and offer all sorts of different perks. Whichever one may appeal the most to you though, the prevailing point is that looking beyond your own world for a more remote retreat can result in some truly special options.
