Who Am I -Meditation – Tibetan and Zen Buddhism Foundations

Who Am I?

Who Am I ? This is the question one comes to explore when sitting in meditation. There might be a time when we need to discover( the true self beyond the thinking self – beyond the self of identities. We may often identify ourselves through our profession, occupation, wealth or relationships to other people. In other words, Buddhism teaches that we are not our body or ego but part of universal consciousness. In this meditation practitioners visualize letting go of their all material and immaterial possessions. What is left after we let go of everything? Who are we in the end when nothing defines us?

Who Am I Meditation

This meditation is part of the Doron Yoga Teacher Training. This session was filmed during the training in the spring of 2013. The talk is followed by a guided meditation that helps us drop away from all the things we may think make who we are, and strip us to find out who we really are. Are you ready to discover who you really are?

Dear Doron, I was first introduced to this powerful meditation technique at Your 2012 YTT and was intrigued by it. The process of detachment as well as the notion of ‘positive nothingness’ as I like to call it (with great relevance to the Heart Sutra) became clearer and real.
Thank you for posting it here for all of us to share!

Thank You Vered. Indeed ‘positive nothingness’, emptiness, or arriving at the place where all is there with no discrimination is the essence of being free.
